Mastectomy bras are GST exempt. Red Fern Lingerie has been granted a GST exemption on the sale of the mastectomy bras. Summary reason for decision - The post mastectomy bras (products) are considered to be 'supplements and aids associated with mammary prosthesis' as listed in item 15 of the Schedule 3 to A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) Regulations 1999 (GST regulations), satisfying the requirements in paragraph 38-45(1)(a) of the GST Act.
