Service

I write this blog as I wait for my car to be serviced…..well, it is best to use my time productively.

Service is different things to different people. The basic definition is ‘the action of helping or doing work for someone’ www.oxforddictionaries.com

An important and valuable service to the greater community are the amazing charities who work tirelessly to raise awareness of breast cancer and much needed funds for research.

In Australia, we are blessed to have charities who work together as a community. Just click on our charity tab for a list of key Australian breast cancer charities and international organisations and a short description of their work.

On a personal level, I feel grateful to the breast cancer community. The community gave me hope during an extremely difficult time and now I do what I can to give back – through speaking at events, fundraising through fun runs, donations and participating in research.

It is difficult to choose one charity for Red Fern Lingerie to support. They all provide such valuable service to the community. Also, I can relate to each individual charities mission. We have decided to be collaborative and ask you, our customers, at check out to nominate a charity. At the end of every financial year, Red Fern Lingerie donates to a breast cancer charity as a way to give back to the community.

This year, our first year, Red Fern Lingerie donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). NBCF is the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Their aspirational goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. With 42 Australians diagnosed each day and seven dying from the disease, there is still much to do. I have volunteered in the offices at the Foundation and have witnessed their passion, determination and drive to do what they can to achieve this goal.

We also have exciting news. CureDiva has included our brand as part of their offering on their online store – www.curediva.com . CureDiva is a one-stop shop for all things breast cancer - skincare, wigs & scarves, lingerie and many other things. It is a website that caters to all stages of breast cancer, from diagnosis to ever after. They also offer support through their Guardians – again a service to the community.

Finally, a BIG thank you to you. It is an absolute honour to be a service to you by returning the choice to you in lingerie, the same choice we enjoyed before diagnosis and treatment took it away.

We are currently stocked in Colleen’s Post Mastectomy Connection, Canberra; Leila O’Toole, Sydney; and Heavenly Curves, Wetherill Park…..with more boutiques to come. If you are unable to attend the stockists, we also have an online boutique redfernlingerie.com

Please feel free to send me an email with your thoughts and feedback.

Love and health

Tina xx
